The Estes Valley Voice is an independent, journalist-founded, and locally owned digital newsroom offering accurate, fact-based, and in-depth news and commentary focused on the people, businesses, and events in the Estes Valley.

The mission of the Estes Valley Voice is twofold: to produce and distribute news, features, and commentary based on six fundamental cornerstones of journalism—integrity, independence, accuracy, accountability, objectivity, and transparency—and to be a forum for the civil exchange of viewpoints and public engagement.

We are a public benefit corporation, which according to Colorado law is a for-profit company “intended to produce a public benefit or public benefits and to operate in a responsible and sustainable manner.”

While staying in business is the first rule of any business, a public benefit corporation shifts the paradigm from profits to people, and from the corporation to the community.

The Estes Valley Voice news team includes local writers, editors, photographers, and content producers who all call the Estes Valley home.

Journalism is a public good. A strong, independent media is correlated with a more civically engaged community. The Estes Valley Voice will work to earn the respect of our readers by delivering news connected to our community.

Help us build an independent, locally-owned, and journalist-led newsroom in the Estes Valley by becoming a subscriber, super-subscriber, advertiser, or sponsor.

Sponsors are individuals, organizations, and businesses that believe a free and independent local media is a public good which should be supported.

While the news should be free for everyone to read, journalism is not cheap. The operation of a newsroom takes money and journalists are professionals who should be paid a living wage for their work.

The old model of the media owned by an individual publisher or a corporation has come into question as so many newspapers have shuttered and as communities across the country have become news deserts with either no local paper or with a publication that is a ghost of its former self.

Through their financial support, sponsors can underwrite news coverage of school news, the arts, the environment and area wild life, nonprofits, minority and special needs communities, health care, mental health, and substance use treatment. Please contact us to talk about a sponsorships, news@estesvalleyvoice.com.
