Dick Mulhern Traffic Cones in Estes cartoon
While we are coming close to the end of what some have called the “never ending loop” construction project, organizers of the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival decided in early August that they could not risk having traffic cones in the street for the parade, so an alternative plan was made to have a parade lead into the tattoo arena on Sunday during a special matinee performance which will honor first responders. Peggy Sue Young hopes that the parade can again take place on Elkhorn Avenue next year. The parade and the festival are a privately organized event and not sponsored by the Town of Estes Park. Dick Mulhern’s cartoon today captures the sentiment of frustration with the length of the Downtown Estes Loop road project which began in January 2023. The project has negatively impacted businesses located along Elkhorn and Moraine Avenues. Credit: Dick Mulhern / Estes Valley Voice
