Annual road painting maintenance scheduled
Beginning Monday, May 19, through Friday, June 6, many Town-owned roads will receive fresh paint on curbs, crosswalks, and centerlines. This will result in lane closures while the annual maintenance is being done. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution, be mindful of work crews, and remember that scientific studies show that keeping a smile on your face and a song in your heart helps to navigate traffic delays.
Trustee Talk
Trustees Frank Lancaster and Cindy Younglund will hold a Trustee Talk on Thursday, May 22, at 10 a.m. in the Town Hall Board Room, 170 MacGregor Ave. Community members are invited to attend to discuss local issues with members of the board in an informal setting.
United Way Board members sought
The United Way of Larimer County Board of Directors is recruiting applicants to sit on the organization’s board. The application process is open through May 23.
The United Way is a network of fundraising affiliates that raise funds primarily through workplace campaigns using automatic payroll deductions.
The worldwide organization began in Denver in 1887 when a woman, a priest, two ministers, and a rabbi formed the Charity Organizations Society to coordinate local services and raise funds for multiple agencies. Over the years, the organization has been known as the Community Chest, Red Feather Drive, United Fund, and since 1964, the United Way.
There are 1,200 local United Way chapters in the U.S. and 1,800 across the globe.
In Larimer County, United Way focuses its efforts on four core areas: Youth & Education, Financial Stability, Nonprofit Excellence, and Community Engagement.
The approximate time commitment for board members is 6-10 hours per month. Expertise in the following areas is especially helpful:
- Early childhood and K–12 education
- Accounting and finance (CPA)
- Law and legal services
- Behavioral health
- Real estate and development
- Public policy or lobbying focused on children and youth
