Estes Valley Voice to host Constitution Day celebration – Sept. 17
The Estes Valley Voice will hold its second annual Constitution Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at George Hix Plaza in downtown Estes Park.
The event will include a free-speech soapbox where community members may speak on topics of their choice. Last year Mayor Gary Hall read the Town of Estes Park’s Constitution Day proclamation which also featured remarks from other speakers.
The celebration will recognize the Constitution and the civil rights and liberties it protects, including the First Amendment freedoms of speech, the press, religion, peaceful assembly and petitioning the government.
The event follows the Estes Valley Voice’s receipt of the Colorado Press Association’s 2025 First Amendment Award two weeks ago at the CPA annual conference in Denver.
Community members, writers, authors, teachers, artists, attorneys, public officials, faith leaders, historians, and advocates for justice are invited to participate.
Look for the EVV’s Free Speech Zone in George Hix Plaza, between Inkwell and Brew and Raven’s Roast.
