You could spend your weekend watching Big Brother, exploring an artist’s studio, or floating in the pool while watching “A Bug’s Life.” That eclectic mix sums up August 14-16, with the Fine Arts Guild’s “1984,” the 10th annual Artist Studio Tour, the Cleveland Pops Ensemble, James “Murr” Murray, and enough live music to fill nearly every spare hour. Here’s what’s happening around Estes Park this weekend, August 14-16.
Last Call: ‘Spider-Man’ at the Historic Park Theatre
The fourth installment in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man franchise, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” is nearing the end of its run at the Historic Park Theatre in Estes Park. The film, which follows Peter Parker as he fights crime in a world that has forgotten who he is as a result of the previous film’s magical events, will be shown at the Park Theater until Thursday, Aug. 20. In addition to our regular movie programming, the venues continue to offer History Tours, Haunted Tours, Late-Night Ghost Hunts, and Psychic Readings with Bekah Blackburn throughout August. On Saturday, Aug. 15, the theater is hosting a free 10 a.m. screening of “The Goonies.”
‘A Jeweler, a Painter, and a Sculptor All Walk into a Gallery’ at the Art Center
The Art Center of Estes Park’s new exhibition, “A Jeweler, a Painter, and a Sculptor All Walk Into a Gallery,” is on view until Aug. 26. The free show features the work of jewelry artist Alice League, painter Diana Wade, and guest sculptor Mike Dwyer. The exhibit is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cleveland Pops Ensemble at YMCA of the Rockies
The Cleveland Pops Ensemble continues its Arts at Altitude residency at YMCA of the Rockies with a weekend packed with performances. Friday, Aug. 14, features a free Brass & Strings Pop-Up from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by “Dance Fever: From Swing to Swift” from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Ruesch Auditorium. On Saturday, the String Ensemble performs a free outdoor concert at the Admin Flagpole from 10 to 11 a.m. before “Broadway Rocks” takes over Ruesch Auditorium from 7 to 9 p.m. The residency concludes Sunday, Aug. 16, with a morning musical prelude beginning at 9:30 a.m. and special accompaniment during the 10 a.m. Community Chapel Service at Hyde Chapel. Tickets are $10 for “Dance Fever” and $20 for “Broadway Rocks,” while the daytime performances and Sunday events are free.
Flick N Float at the Estes Valley Community Center
Cool off with a movie in the pool during Flick N Float at the Estes Valley Community Center on Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Families can float in the lap pool while watching Disney and Pixar’s “A Bug’s Life” on the big screen, with shave ice available from the Kona Ice food truck. Inner tubes and life jackets will be provided, but participants should bring swimsuits and towels. The event is open to all ages and costs $18 per person, with advance registration required. Children 8 and younger must attend with a registered guardian, and guardians of children 3 and younger must join them in the water.
Live Music at The Slab
The Slab Outdoor Pub fills its stage with another weekend of live music Aug. 14-16. Teague Starbuck gets things started Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., followed by Jacob Finkbiner from 6 to 10 p.m. On Saturday, Bill Taylor performs his Smooth Acoustic set from noon to 3:30 p.m., before Gregg Green takes over from 6 to 10 p.m. Neilson & Nicholson close out the weekend Sunday with a performance from 1 to 5 p.m.
Friday Night at the Commons
Start your weekend at Friday Night at the Commons on Friday, Aug. 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cleave Street Commons. This free community gathering brings together live music, neighbors, and visitors for a relaxed summer evening in the heart of Estes Park.
Joseph Lingenfelter at the Rockslide Patio Bar
Enjoy live music on the banks of Fall River as Joseph Lingenfelter performs at the Rockslide Patio Bar at the Inn on Fall River on Friday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 9 p.m. If you can’t make it this weekend, don’t worry. Lingenfelter will be performing at Rockslide every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from now until September.
Friday Live Music at Snowy Peaks Winery
Neilson & Nicholson performs live in the tasting room at Snowy Peaks Winery on Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show is free to attend, but seats in the tasting room fill up quickly, so reservations are advised. Call 970-586-2099 to reserve your table.
A Weekend of Live Music at The Rock Inn
The Rock Inn Mountain Tavern offers three evenings of live music Aug. 14-16. Jon Pickett, bassist and vocalist for Colorado bluegrass band Chain Station, opens the weekend Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Jason Hicks takes the stage Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. before Elia King closes out the weekend Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Live Music at Bogey’s on the Rooftop
Bogey’s Sports Bar keeps its rooftop stage busy Aug. 14-16 with three nights of live music. Parish Heights opens the weekend Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. with an energetic mix of Southern classic rock, R&B, and country music. Great American Nowhere takes over Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., blending alternative country, folk, Midwest emo, and Red Dirt influences. Warner Parker closes things out Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a soulful mix of Americana, blues, rock, and soul.
Random & True at American Legion Post 119
Kick off the weekend with live music from Random & True at American Legion Post 119 on Friday, Aug. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free, so arrive early for happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m., grab dinner from the Legion tavern, and stick around for the Queen of Hearts drawing at 7 p.m.
Blake & Jenna Bolerjack Concert
Award-winning Christian music duo Blake & Jenna Bolerjack bring an evening of gospel music to Cornerstone Church of Estes Valley on Friday, Aug. 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The husband-and-wife performers blend classic and contemporary gospel with close vocal harmonies and personal testimony drawn from their Christian faith. Estes Park singer-songwriter and two-time world yodeling champion Vic Anderson opens the concert with a mix of cowboy and Western music. Admission is free.
Fine Arts Guild Brings ‘1984’ to the Stage
The Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies brings George Orwell’s dystopian classic “1984” to the Estes Park High School Auditorium for three performances Aug. 14-16. The stage adaptation explores Orwell’s enduring questions about truth, freedom, and authoritarian control through a suspenseful story that remains strikingly relevant. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20.
Karaoke Night at Lonigans
Take the stage at Lonigans (106 W. Elkhorn Ave.) for its free karaoke night, happening every Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to midnight. It’s the perfect late-night outing for those looking to get their sing on.
Cars and Coffee at the Estes Valley Community Center
Car enthusiasts can spend Saturday morning checking out everything from vintage classics to modern rides during Estes Park Car Club’s Cars and Coffee on Aug. 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Estes Valley Community Center. The free gathering welcomes vehicles of all makes, models, and years, along with anyone who simply wants to admire the lineup and talk cars with fellow enthusiasts.
Estes Park Artist Studio Tour Celebrates 10 Years
Go behind the scenes of Estes Park’s creative community during the 10th annual Artist Studio Tour on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free, self-guided tour invites visitors into working studios throughout Estes Park to meet local artists, see their tools and materials, watch the creative process up close, and purchase original artwork directly from its makers.
Saturday Artisan Market
Browse handcrafted goods and meet local makers during the Saturday Artisan Market at Cleave Street Commons on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The free community event brings together artists, artisans, and creative vendors in the heart of downtown Estes Park, offering everything from handmade gifts and artwork to locally crafted products.
‘Impractical Jokers’ Star at The Stanley Hotel
James “Murr” Murray, best known as a star and executive producer of “Impractical Jokers,” brings his interactive Errors Tour to The Stanley Hotel on Saturday, Aug. 15. The 21-and-over comedy show combines stand-up, outrageous behind-the-scenes stories, never-before-seen “Impractical Jokers” videos, and opportunities for audience members to join Murray for live versions of the show’s challenges. Two performances are scheduled at The Stanley Concert Hall, with shows at 6 and 8:30 p.m.
Sundays at the Commons
Slow down and enjoy a laid-back afternoon at Sundays at the Commons on Sunday, Aug. 15, from noon to 4 p.m. at Cleave Street Commons. This free community gathering offers a welcoming space to relax, connect with neighbors, and enjoy family-friendly activities.
