Community wildfire mitigation and weed drop-off day set for Aug. 15
Estes Valley residents can dispose of weeds, pinecones and pine needles during the second Community Wildfire Mitigation and Weed Drop-Off Day on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon off Community Drive, west of the pickleball courts and next to ELSA. The gate will open at 9 a.m., and drop-off will continue until the containers are full.
Residents may bring up to 10 paper bags of weeds and 10 paper bags of pinecones and pine needles per vehicle. Weeds must be kept separate from pinecones and pine needles.
Plastic bags will not be accepted. All materials must be brought in paper bags.
The community drop-off is intended to help residents remove combustible vegetation and other materials from around their properties, reducing wildfire risk while helping keep the Estes Valley clean. The final drop-off day for the season will be Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026.
KUNC to interview Melissa Strong at Historic Park Theater Aug. 25
KUNC’s Erin O’Toole, host of “In the NoCo,” will interview Melissa Strong on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at the Historic Park Theater for a live taping of the radio program.
Strong, author of the new memoir “Climbing Through: A Courageous Story of Grit, Healing, and Second Chances,” will share her story of surviving a devastating electrical accident and how the grit and courage she developed through rock climbing helped her recover.
The Estes Women’s Business Network, which had to cancel its May gathering with Strong due to a personal emergency, will hold its summer gathering at this event and encourages its members to attend.

EVICS Fall Gala – Sept. 23
Tickets are on sale for the EVICS Fall Gala. The event will be held Sept. 23 at the Boulders at Black Canyon Inn. Tickets are $100 each. Proceeds support EVICS Family Resource Center in strengthening children and families across the Estes Valley.
Autumn Gold Raffle tickets on sale – Sept. 27 raffle
Tickets are on sale for the Estes Park Sunrise Rotary Club’s 2026 Autumn Gold Raffle. The drawing will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in Bond Park.
Only 350 tickets will be sold at $100 each, with seven cash prizes: a $10,000 grand prize, a $2,500 second prize and five $500 prizes. Each ticket has a 1-in-50 chance of winning and includes $15 in food-and-beverage vouchers for the Autumn Gold Festival.
Proceeds support local scholarships, nonprofit grants and Rotary service projects.
