Congressman Joe Neguse to visit Estes Park today, Monday, July 27
U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, D-Colorado, will stop in Estes Park on Monday, July 27 for several public events. He is scheduled to be at Bond Park at 2:50 p.m. for Congress on Your Corner and is expected to attend the swearing-in of the new fire chief, Kevin Nunn, at the Dannels Fire Station at 3:30.
EVICS Family Resource Center offers free school supplies
Families preparing for the new school year can pick up free school supplies at the EVICS Family Resource Center during a weeklong back-to-school giveaway.
The distribution will take place July 30 through Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EVICS Family Resource Center, 1182 Graves Ave., Unit A, in Estes Park.
The free supplies are intended to help local families prepare children for the upcoming school year. EVICS encourages parents and guardians to stop by during the distribution period to pick up needed items while supplies last.

Get ready for National Night Out – August 4
The Estes Park Police Department is encouraging neighborhoods, homeowner associations, apartment communities, and other local groups to take part in National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The annual nationwide event promotes partnerships among law enforcement, first responders, and the communities they serve through neighborhood gatherings and crime-prevention awareness.
Residents are invited to host block parties, cookouts, ice cream socials, or other neighborhood events. Registered gatherings may receive visits between 5 and 8 p.m. from representatives of the Estes Park Police Department, Estes Valley Fire Protection District, Rocky Mountain National Park, and UCHealth Estes Valley Medical Center EMS.

Estes Recycles Day – Aug. 8
The next Estes Recycles Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Estes Park Events Complex on Manford Avenue.
The Community Recycling Committee will collect electronics, scrap metal, bicycles, microwaves, and old bicycle tires and tubes. Most electronics will be accepted free of charge, although fees apply for computer towers and laptops, televisions, monitors, and smoke detectors.
Noon Rotary will provide on-site document shredding for $15 per 30-pound box, with a limit of three banker’s boxes. Proceeds will benefit scholarships for Estes Park High School students.
Walkers, crutches, and wheelchairs will also be collected at no charge for Rotary’s “Crutches for Africa” project.
Scrap metal items must contain at least 50% metal by weight and no freon. Major appliances will not be accepted. Bikes in better condition may be refurbished for a charitable cause, while other bikes can be recycled for scrap metal.
