Overview:

What's going on in Estes Park this weekend, including the Avant Garde summer concert series, Voices of Change, 531 Party, and more.

Now that Memorial Day has passed, Estes Park is quickly approaching the busy summer season. Patio concerts are kicking off, rooftop music is back in rotation, and the Historic Park Theatre is still holding space for Grogu and ghost tours. It’s also a good weekend for wandering. You can catch a choral concert, dig through the community garage sale, check out the latest Art Center exhibit, or follow the live music from Snowy Peaks to The Rock Inn, Bogey’s, and Lumpy Ridge. In other words, the summer crowds may be building, but there are still plenty of local-friendly ways to ease into the season.

If you grilled all weekend and missed “The Mandalorian and Grogu” at Park Theatre, don’t worry. The film, rated PG-13 and part of the “Star Wars” franchise, will play at the historic Park Theatre until June 11. Based on the characters first seen in the Disney+ streaming series “The Mandalorian,” this film follows Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu as they are tasked by the New Republic with rescuing Rotta the Hutt in exchange for information on a target. The Park Theatre also offers historical and haunted tours throughout the weekend.

Spend some time with two very different artistic perspectives at “Explorations,” on view through June 8 at the Art Center of Estes Park. Open Fridays through Mondays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the free exhibit features plein air-inspired oil paintings by Jenifer Cline alongside colorful geometric abstract works by John Long. The show also includes artwork by local elementary school students in the Sunroom.

Paul Collyer will perform live in the tasting room at Snowy Peaks Winery on Friday, May 29, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The show is free to attend, but seats in the tasting room fill up quickly, so reservations are advised. Call 970-586-2099 to reserve your table.

Summer patio concert season begins at Avant Garde Aleworks on Friday, May 29, with the launch of the brewery’s free Summer Concert Series. Mountain Duo will perform from 5 to 7 p.m., bringing live music to the outdoor patio. The series continues throughout the summer with a lineup of local and regional musicians, making Avant Garde a go-to spot for easygoing weekends filled with music and good weather.

Catch an evening of roots music and masterful songwriting when David Tiller performs at The Rock Inn Mountain Tavern on Friday, May 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. Best known for his work with Taarka, ThaMuseMeant, Elephant Revival, and High Lonesome, Tiller brings decades of musical collaboration and storytelling to the stage as he prepares to release his first solo album under his own name. The free performance offers a chance to hear songs shaped by Colorado’s folk and bluegrass scene in an intimate mountain setting.

Add an elegant soundtrack to your evening at Twin Owls Steakhouse with live classical and Spanish guitar by James Davis. Performing Wednesdays through Fridays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Davis brings a refined, atmospheric style that pairs seamlessly with Twin Owls’ fine dining experience. Live music is offered for dining guests only, so reservations are recommended. Call 970-586-9344 for more info.

Ease into the weekend with live acoustic rock and blues when John Hodges performs at Bogey’s Sports Bar on Friday, May 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. The free show brings upbeat music to the downtown venue.

The Estes Park Chorale will present Voices of Change on Friday, May 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies. The concert explores themes of transformation and resilience through a collection of choral works centered on change, growth, and renewal. Tickets are $10 for the evening performance, which brings together local singers for a reflective and uplifting night of music.

Take the stage at Lonigans (106 W. Elkhorn Ave.) for its free karaoke night, happening every Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to midnight. It’s the perfect late-night outing for those looking to get their sing on.

Spend Saturday bargain hunting and exploring the Estes Valley Community Center during its Free Day and Garage Sale on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring community members selling everything from gently used household items to hidden treasures and secondhand finds. Inside, the community center is offering membership specials for new or returning members, along with free hot dogs, chips, and drinks from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Country and folk musician Sarah Minto-Sparks returns to The Rock Inn Mountain Tavern on Saturday, May 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. Known for her warm vocals and skilled guitar work, Minto-Sparks delivers an easygoing acoustic set that blends folk storytelling with classic country influences.

Jeremy Smith brings his blend of country, folk, and bluegrass to the rooftop at Bogey’s Sports Bar on Saturday, May 30, from 7 to 10 p.m. Often described as “American Blue Dirt,” Smith’s sound mixes rootsy storytelling with laid-back mountain-town energy, making it a natural fit for a Saturday night in Estes Park.

Catch a new voice on the rooftop when Douglas James makes his debut at Bogey’s Sports Bar on Sunday, May 31, from 3 to 5 p.m. The Sunday afternoon set pairs live music with mountain views, cold drinks, and a relaxed rooftop atmosphere in downtown Estes Park.

Indie-folk duo Poets Row will perform at The Rock Inn Mountain Tavern on Sunday, May 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. Made up of Emily Hobbs and Mickey Bakes, the Estes Park-based group blends thoughtful songwriting and acoustic folk influences into intimate live performances. Named after the Denver neighborhood where the pair first met, Poets Row brings a warm, melodic sound to this free Sunday evening show.

Lumpy Ridge Brewing is keeping the details simple for its 531 PARTY on Sunday, May 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Publick House. Named after the brewery’s South St. Vrain address, the event promises an evening of good beer, good company, and whatever surprises the crew has planned. Sometimes that’s all you really need to know.

Wrap up the weekend with good food, craft cocktails, and live tunes at Lonigans (106 W. Elkhorn Ave.). Every Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., the pub hosts free live music in a family-friendly setting.
