Estes Park Garden Club to meet
The Estes Park Garden Club will host a program on identifying and controlling noxious weeds at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 11, in the Hondius Room at the Estes Valley Library with Brian Kolokowsky, a conservation forester and restoration ecologist who has worked in the Estes Valley since 2010 and operates Deep Root Tree Care and Weed Control, which focuses on restoring native landscapes. The program will cover how to identify common noxious weeds, methods for controlling them, and the role weed management plays in supporting local ecosystems and pollinators.
Melissa Strong to speak at Estes Women’s Business Network
Local business owner, elite climber, survivor of a life-threatening electrical accident, and author of Climbing Through, Melissa Strong will speak at the May networking meeting of the Estes Women’s Business Network on Tuesday, May 12, at 5:30 at The Bird’s Nest Café. May Social Memory Café

Monteverde Sister-City program
The Estes Park Sister Cities Association will host an informal presentation about its sister city, Monteverde, Costa Rica, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 17. at the Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies, 1700 Brodie Ave. The program will feature Paul Greenberg, who traveled to the Costa Rican community in January, and Lyn Sadler, who visited in February. The presentation will be held in a circular seating format to encourage conversation. The event is open to association members and anyone interested in learning more about the sister city relationship between Estes Park and Monteverde.
UCHealth to hold public meeting about community health in the Estes Valley
UCHealth Estes Valley Medical Center will host a public meeting in the Meeker Conference Room at the medical center on Tuesday, May 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to review hospital program data and outline efforts to support community health in the Estes Valley.
The session will include a discussion of the Hospital Transformation Program, a value-based initiative focused on improving outcomes for Medicaid patients, strengthening care transitions, and expanding coordination among providers and highlight community benefit efforts. UCHealth reported providing $1.6 billion in community benefit last year, including $762 million in uncompensated and charity care.
Park Like a Local at the Estes Valley Library
Free downtown parking for locals will be offered again during the busy summer season for library patrons. The library’s Park Like A Local program allows patrons who live within the Estes Park R-3 School District to receive up to 120 minutes of free parking each day by registering their license plate number to their library account. The town’s paid parking season begins on Friday, May 22. No physical permit or windshield sticker is required. Click here for more information.
