Nicholas Anthony Mollé, a beloved husband, father, artist, and visionary entrepreneur, passed away on March 18, 2026. Born on August 20, 1946, in Mahopac, New York, Nick grew up exploring the woods behind his family home where he developed a love for the outdoors. He lived a life defined by creativity, curiosity, and a deep love for both people and the natural world.
In 1992, he moved to Estes Park, Colorado, with his wife, Mary Beth, where they built a life and family and remained closely connected to the landscapes and wildlife that inspired so much of his work.
Nick was the son of Nicholas Anthony Mollé, Sr. and Nancy Virginia Veschi Mollé. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Molle, and is survived by his brother, Robert Molle.
A true pioneer in media, Nick was an entrepreneur who founded an independent television station that grew into a worldwide success. His innovative storytelling and dedication to meaningful content brought him national recognition, including more than 10 feature documentaries on PBS and two Emmy Awards honoring his contributions.
Often described as a gentle soul, Nick’s heart belonged to the natural world. He was passionate about educating others on the beauty and importance of Rocky Mountain National Park, its wildlife, flora, and fauna, the Colorado River, and the urgent need for environmental stewardship.

Through his work, he inspired countless individuals to appreciate and protect the world around them.
Above all, Nick was an artist. His lifelong passion for filmmaking and music shaped his identity and touched many lives. He was a gifted musician who cherished playing his beloved 1957 Martin guitar. From his early days performing in Greenwich Village in the 1960s to the very end of his life, he shared both his original songs and beloved folk music with warmth and authenticity.
Nick will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit. He was friendly, inclusive, honest, and brave, with a playful and poetic soul. Deeply intelligent and sensitive, he had a rare gift for connecting with others and making them feel seen and valued.
He cherished his family above all else and would do anything in the world for them. To those who knew and loved him, he was not only talented and accomplished, but deeply devoted—a precious and irreplaceable presence in their lives.
He was a beloved husband and father, and he will be missed beyond measure by his wife, Mary Beth, and daughters, Lauren and Claire, for the rest of their lives. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on May 3, 2026, at The Barrel in Estes Park, Colorado, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
