This week in the Estes Valley brought stories of community support, emergency response, and long-term planning for the town’s future.

After a fire forced guests to evacuate from Expedition Lodge, the team at Murphy’s Lodge stepped in to help displaced visitors. Staff quickly opened more than two dozen rooms to accommodate families and a group of students visiting Estes Park for a robotics competition, also offering coffee, snacks, and a warm place to regroup.

Meanwhile, firefighters from the Estes Valley Fire Protection District responded to two separate fires within 12 hours amid strong winds. The first occurred early in the morning at the Estes Park Resort, where crews contained a fire inside a restroom building.

Later that morning, a small wildfire near Fish Creek Road and Johnson Lane was quickly controlled. No injuries were reported. At the same time, the Estes Park Town Board discussed several long-term infrastructure needs, including the possibility of building a new police facility to replace the aging space currently located in Town Hall.

Trustees also voted to keep downtown parking rates at $2 per hour while continuing to evaluate future options.Together, the week’s events highlighted both the resilience and cooperation that continue to define the Estes Park community.
