While some argue that Frozen Dead Guys is not your typical Estes kind of thing, many locals have not only embraced it but quite a few have become seasoned coffin racers. Credit: Patti Brown / Estes Valley Voice

Frozen Dead Guy Days came to life this weekend in Estes Park. One of the madcap highlights of the three-day festival is the coffin races. With 26 coffin teams competing, there was a panoply of color and controlled chaos in the arena at the Estes Park Events Complex Saturday afternoon.

Other FDGD events included the Royal Blue Ball at The Stanley Hotel, a new drone show that debuted Saturday night, the Bands and Bloodys Sunday morning brunches at area eateries, and the annual polar plunge Sunday afternoon in the Pavilion at The Stanley Hotel.
