A sixth individual, Jamie Mieras has filed paperwork to be listed on the ballot for the April 7 Town Board election. Mieras, an ultramarathon runner, is a podiatrist who began working at Estes Park Health, now UCHealth-Estes Valley Medical Center, a year ago.

When Mieras turned in her petition, not all the signatures could be verified by the Town Clerk’s office by the deadline, which delayed the announcement of her candidacy.

Five of the candidates attended Tuesday night’s drawing for ballot position. The order in which candidates will appear on the ballot is:  Randy Welch, Bill Brown, Kirby Nelson-Hazelton, Aidan Rosenau, Chris Eshelman, and Mieras.

The six candidates will be vying for four open seats. Three of those elected will serve four-year terms. The individual with the fourth highest number of votes will serve for two years to fill the unexpired term of Cindy Younglund, who has resigned for personal reasons.

Mayor Pro Tem Marie Cenac is term-limited, and Brown and Hazelton’s terms both expire on March 31.

The League of Women Voters will hold a candidate forum on Thursday, March 12, in the Town Board Room of Town Hall at 170 MacGregor Ave. The forum will be recorded and available online.

The election will be conducted by mail, and ballots will be sent to all active voters within town limits the week of March 16. Voters who will not be home to receive a ballot may receive a ballot at a location other than the registered address by updating their voter registration by clicking here or by completing an application for an absent voter mail ballot by clicking here.
