A new concessionaire with a different concept for food service at the 18-hole golf course will greet not only golfers, but the public at large when it opens in March.
At Tuesday’s monthly meeting, the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District board of directors voted that, pending successful negotiations, Fire Dragon, LLC, known for its upscale restaurant named Outlaws and Legends Steakhouse, will be serving up different options and menu choices not seen at the Hangar in the past.
According to EVRPD Executive Director Tom Carosello, a name for the restaurant has not been chosen.
The upscale Outlaws and Legends Steakhouse has operated inside the Seven Keys Lodge, formerly known as Baldpate Inn, since June 21, 2025. However, according to information relayed at the Jan. 20 EVRPD meeting, Brett Daugherty and Abby Sweeney have been looking for a new location.
“Our primary objective is to elevate the dining and hospitality experience for the golfing community by operating the clubhouse restaurant, two motorized on-course food and beverage carts, and delivering exceptional catering services for tournaments, special events, and weddings,” said Daugherty in his company’s proposal to the EVRPD.
“Our vision: the clubhouse restaurant will be a place golfers, visitors, and residents are proud to share with family and friends – a premier gathering spot and treasured repeat destination, defined by excellence in cuisine, service, hospitality, community connection, and recognized as the most desirable place to work in Estes Park,” Daugherty’s application said.
According to Fire Dragon’s proposal, the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday in March and April.
The rest of the year, except for January and February, which will be reserved for events, the restaurant will be open every day of the week. Hours in May will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Opening time June through August, the peak golfing season, will be from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Plans now are for the restaurant to be open September through December from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Traditional breakfast grab-and-go items will be available, along with a complete clubhouse breakfast menu. Those playing golf can order ahead while on the course and pick up their meal when they take a break before setting off to play the back 9 holes. Patrons in the clubhouse will be able to order soup and salads, sandwiches, or luncheon entrees. From 4 p.m. until the restaurant closes, patrons can choose from seasonal chef specials or entrees such as chicken piccata or beef tenderloin.

How about we stick with tradition and history and call it …. The Hanger!
