With no fanfare and only a silent print note at the top of its new website homepage, the Park Hospital District Board of Directors has posted information stating that a regular meeting of the board will be held later today to discuss various topics, including routine organizational activities.

Waiting until the last legally required moment to post meeting notices, which often takes the public by surprise and limits public participation in meetings, is a traditional practice of the board.

The 5:30 p.m. meeting will be conducted via “Teams,” a virtual platform hosted by Microsoft. A link to the meeting is provided on the hospital district’s website.

In addition to agenda items accessible to the public, documents that board members will use as reference documents are also available. Those documents indicate that the meeting today will be held at Town Hall.

Not included as a topic for discussion is a financial report. Financial reports have not been included in the hospital board’s regular meetings for years. Also not included on the agenda are updates on the legal issues currently facing the board, including a late-December hearing in Larimer County Court concerning the board’s withholding of financial documents from public review.

At the time of publication, the Estes Valley Voice has not received a response to its Jan. 6 request for information about future board meetings.

That request inquired whether the board had determined the meeting schedule for 2026 and whether the next board meeting would be held on Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m.

Jan. 28 would have been the normal meeting date for hospital board meetings prior to the facility’s transfer to UCHealth.

Individuals wishing to attend the meeting today do not need a Teams account, as they can attend as guests, nor is an advance reservation required. Teams will let you enter your name and join without signing in. Any protocols that may be required, such as waiting room procedures, name entry, and permissions to use a computer microphone or camera, have not been listed at this time. However, no special account, software, or setup is required.
