Listening sessions seek voices of Coloradans 50+ about employment opportunities and barriers

Colorado’s aging workforce faces rising barriers to employment. A statewide consortium of organizations — iAging, the Colorado Commission on Aging Workforce Committee, and the Office of the Future of Work — will host an online listening session for north/northeast Colorado Thursday, Oct. 23, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

The purpose is to gather first-hand stories and data from Coloradans age 50+ about job seeking, training, career changes, and barriers to employment. A 2022 Colorado Assessment Survey of Older Adults found that unemployment among adults 50+ averages 5.2 percent, compared to 2.8 percent statewide. Rates rise to 6 percent for some older age groups.
