Pops of colors catch your eye when you drive into Estes along East Elkhorn. The Town’s newest public art installation is a bold mural on the west side of The Egg of Estes, designed and painted by Piper Lasota, celebrating images of Estes Park.
Lasota graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman with a degree in studio art and a major in metalsmithing. She is also a member of Estes Park High School’s class of 2017. She works for The Egg, and her boss, Ania Leahy, suggested that Lasota create the mural.

Lasota designed the mural on her iPad and executed it freehand, incorporating images of Estes Park – the iconic Park Theater tower, the waterwheel, The Stanely Hotel, the elk, the red tram cars, aspen in their fall glory, the Rooftop Rodeo, Scots Fest, mountains, and of course, The Egg – into each letter in the style of an old-fashioned travel postcard.
The project took Lasota about 47 hours to complete, and she has received two inquiries from other businesses, one in Estes and one in Denver, interested in having her design a mural. Lasota also has a shop on Etsy, Clayfullness where she sells original polymer clay miniatures and jewelry.

Bravo! Looks great.
Thank You for adding wonderful new art to our downtown.
