Morales back in jail today, then bonded out; Hill remains in custody
David Morales was back in the Larimer County jail today after his bond was revoked, then he bonded out. Warrants for Morales’ arrest were issued two weeks ago, related to charges related to an alleged incident in February involving liquor being served to minors at the Twisted Griffin, a restaurant and pub, and for failure to register as a convicted sex offender. He was arrested on Aug. 12, and was transferred from the Larimer County Jail to the Weld County Jail on Aug. 17 and then bonded out on Aug. 20. According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s booking report, his next court date is Oct. 14.
Thomas Chase Hill, arrested and charged with criminal mischief and first-degree arson in the July 25 Haber Motel fire, remains in the Larimer County Jail. His next court appearances are Aug. 28 and Sept.3 in Jefferson County and then Sept. 17 and 25 in Larimer County.

Battery recycling
Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary is embarking on a new project to collect and recycle lithium and metal-hydride batteries. The Rotary is partnering with Redwood Materials to gather used batteries and recover the rare earth minerals in them for reuse. The Rotary will have a collection box in the silent auction tent at the Labor Day Arts and Crafts Show in Bond Park, Saturday, Aug. 30 to Monday, Sept 1. The community can drop off worn-out rechargeables. For more information, call 970-222-2120.
“Bon voyage” to Dr. Juli Schneider, hello to Dr. Igor Huzicka
A community-wide party is being held on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Estes Valley Community Center’s lower-level meeting space for Julie Schneider, an internal medicine doctor retiring from Estes Park Health.
Patients, friends, and colleagues are invited to come and wish her “bon voyage” as she sets off on a year-long adventure to travel to at least 17 countries. In a letter to friends, Schneider wrote, “I have decided,” she added, “to take a step back from medicine to see and experience the things that I otherwise wouldn’t until formal retirement, and before I may not be able to do so.”
In early October, Igor Huzicka, an internist who completed fellowship training in allergy and immunology, will join the staff at UCH.
