It was a “good news” report that Sue Cooper, chair of the Estes Park Health Foundation, provided to the EPH board of directors when they met Wednesday, July 30

Cooper reported that the May gala celebrating the hospital’s 50th anniversary raised $360,860, which will be used to construct a diagnostic imaging center within the health center. Late last year, the foundation pledged to provide $400,000 toward that facility.

In addition, $139,960 from summer fundraising will be donated to the foundation’s cancer screening fund. Candidates in the Mrs. Rooftop Rodeo campaign raised $135,242, while “Pass the Boot” and “Paint Estes Pink Night” raised another $4,773.

The campaign for Mrs. Rooftop Rodeo will extend to the foundation’s fall cancer treatment phase 1 campaign, which will begin with mammograms in October in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A full campaign that follows will include screening for colon cancer and X-rays for lung cancer, along with FIT PSA blood tests for prostate cancer.

Other recent foundation contributions funded the purchase of new surgical lights and, along with contributions from the Trail Ridge Quilters, provided a new handheld diagnostic ultrasound unit for emergency medical technicians’ use.

Cooper also announced that, in September, foundation board member Kelly McDonald will present an evening program entitled, “How to Get Along with Anyone Despite Your Differences.” The public program will be held Sept. 9 at the Estes Valley Recreation Center.

According to Cooper, McDonald is one of the nation’s top experts in leadership, marketing, sales, the customer experience, and consumer trends.

The EPH Foundation board includes officers Max Salfinger, Larry Leaming, and Ingrid Drouin, and directors Andy Selig, Carl Robicheaux, Dwight Stanford, John Knutson, McDonald, Pat Smith, Rod Unruh, and Scott Dickinson.
