Estes Park School’s District Advisory and Accountability Committee
Are you interested in improving the health of Estes Park Schools? Participating in the District Advisory and Accountability Committee is one way.
The committee advises the district by monitoring the district’s mission, vision, goals, and financial commitments.
The 2024-2025 charges were to review academic achievement and growth, budget and spending, real-world learning, and activities related to English as a second language.
The committee’s meetings are open to the public and are held at 4:15 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month from October through May in the Middle School Library.
Parents, teachers, and community members interested in serving should complete and submit the official application form. The term of service on DACC is one year.
New DAAC members will be announced in September, and the first meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
More information about the committee is provided on the district’s website.
Bank of Estes Park receives state recognition
The Bank of Estes Park recently received a certificate of appreciation from the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado for “Outstanding Contribution and Service in the area of Access to Justice.”
The locally owned bank has received the award annually for many years and is one of only 19 financial facilities in the state that received the recognition this year, according to Scott Applegate, the bank’s president and CEO.
The Bank of Estes Park participated in the Colorado Lawyer Trust Account Foundation, where a premium interest rate is paid on lawyers’ trust accounts before they are combined into a state-wide pool to fund civil legal aid programs and access to justice initiatives for low-income and vulnerable individuals in Colorado.
Jenny Miles, the Bank of Estes Park’s senior retail operations officer, has directed the local program for over two decades, and the bank has participated for more than three decades.
Moraine Park Camping
Additional campsite reservations are available now through Sept. 9 at the newly renovated Moraine Park Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park. Reservations are available through www.recreation.gov.
The park’s largest and most popular campground reopened July 9 after a two-year closure for utility renovations, including the water, wastewater, and electrical systems.
Off-site library activities
Not all activities associated with the Estes Valley Library are held inside the library.
On July 26, people can discuss Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” before watching a movie adaptation at the Historic Park Theatre. The activity is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
There will be a special activity for children five and under who come with a caregiver to the Performance Park Amphitheater, 435 W. Elkhorn Ave., on July 30 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Children will create bark boats made of natural materials.
“Buckle Up — Someone Needs You”
In a special two-week law enforcement campaign, Colorado State Patrol and county and local law enforcement agencies will increase patrols and focus on issuing citations to unbuckled drivers as part of the national Click It or Ticket effort. Drivers with unbuckled passengers and improperly restrained children can also be ticketed. This is the third statewide seat belt enforcement period of 2025.
