The foam party

The Estes Valley Library will again host Ann Lincoln for a squeaky-clean foam party Tuesday, July 15, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the grassy area between Stanley Park playground and the ball fields. Foam cannons will produce voluminous clouds of soft, white foam bubbles that children (of all ages) are welcome to wade into for good, clean fun. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing and shoes that can get wet or swimwear, and not to forget the sunscreen.

New childcare tuition assistance available

For the first time in the Estes Valley, middle-income families will have access to childcare tuition assistance this fall. The program’s funding has been made possible through a Buell Foundation grant combined with 6E childcare funding.

The program will assist families who typically do not qualify for income-restricted subsidies.

More information, including how to apply and eligibility requirements, will be released soon. Applications will be available in early fall. Tuition assistance will be distributed between August 2025 and July 2026. For more information, email Housing and Childcare Manager Carlie Bangs or call 970-577-3894.

Town wants residents’ feedback

Questionnaires focusing on how well the town meets residents’ needs will be mailed to 1,700 randomly selected households this week. The results will be unveiled this fall and will inform the town’s plans, including budgetary expenditures, program improvement, and policy making.

This will be the seventh time since 2011 that the town has collected residents’ opinions about how residents feel about their quality of life, town services, and other community topics. Visit Estes Park recently conducted a community opinion survey about tourism and recreation district operations.

The survey is part of the National Community Survey. Click here to read past survey results.

Hydroplant Open Fridays

Estes Park’s historic Fall River Hydroplant will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on three more Fridays this summer  – July 25, Aug. 8, and Aug. 22 — before closing for the season Aug. 22. Built by F.O. Stanley in 1909 to provide electricity for the Stanley Hotel, the plant soon began to provide electricity for the town. In 1928, the plant was sold to the Public Service Company of Colorado, and in 1945, the Town acquired the facility and operated it until it was damaged by the Lawn Lake Flood in 1982.

Located at 1754 Fish Hatchery Rd., the plant has operated as an interpretive site since 2002, with guided tours on the hour beginning at noon on the days the plant is open to the public.
