The opening line of William Shakespear’s Twelth Night, “If music be the food of love, play on.” There are many venues in the Estes Valley to whet or fully satisfy your appetite for music, good food, and many forms of entertainment.

This weekend, the Seven Keys Summer Songwriter Series kicks off with performances by country artists Max and Brittany Flinn from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night in the outdoor performance venue at the Seven Keys Lodge.

The lodge was established five years ago in the historic Baldpate Inn property on Highway 7 near Lily Lake, purchased by Mark and Meredith Powell, from Abilene, Texas. Mark is an accomplished country music singer and songwriter and the upcoming summer songwriter festival will feature Mark and his colleagues in rare, intimate performances. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased on the Seven Keys Lodge’s website.

Music may be the food of love, but the nineteenth century American novelist, children’s writer, humorist, and newspaper columnist Fanny Fern is famous for her quote, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Many men and women are going to fall in love this summer with the new Outlaws and Legends Steakhouse at Seven Keys.

The upscale ranch-to-table menu features bison, elk, lamb, and beef, along with seafood, some decadent desserts, and an outstading wine list that boasts some extraordinary reds and desert wines, including a flight of Grahams 10, 20, 30, 40 and 40-year old tawny ports. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays for brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a prime rib station, and again from 3 to 6 p.m. for dinner.
