Estes Valley Voice Letters to the Editor Policy
The Estes Valley Voice welcomes the opinions of its readers through letters submitted to the editor at news@estesvalleyvoice.com. Letters should be original, not be previously published elsewhere, and should be relevant to readers of the EVV. Letters may be edited for clarity, brevity, objectionable content, and grammatical and spelling standards, though meaning and intent will not change. The decision to publish a letter is not an endorsement of its opinions, but an opportunity to share a viewpoint that may be of interest to readers. Authors’ names and the community where the author resides will be published, but not the author’s email address or phone number. The EVV will not publish anonymous letters. Whistle-blower letters are always accepted, whether anonymous or signed, though such letters will be used as the basis of story research rather than for publication on their own.
Praise for care at Estes Park Health
On May 16, 2025 my son and his wife and baby were visiting me in Estes Park, and my son woke up with his eye half shut and in sharp pain. He tried to tough out the day because he didn’t want it to ruin the visit, but by 8 p.m. he admitted that he was still in pain and it was getting worse. By then, urgent care was closed. He didn’t want to go to the emergency room because – coming from California – he felt it would take at least 3 hours of sitting around in the waiting room. I told him it wasn’t like that here, and finally he agreed to go.
At EPH Emergency Room, they took us to a treatment room right away, and were so friendly and welcoming, my son relaxed immediately. Staff made him comfortable, took his information while he was lying down and assured him they would submit everything to his insurance, took care of everything administrative in the kindest, friendliest, most efficient way imagineable.
Dr. Zach Blea came in within a couple of minutes and knew exactly what to do. He administered care, prescribed medication, and answered all of our questions. Two days later, when my son returned to California and saw his own ophthalmologist, she said that Dr. Blea had done everything right, and my son’s eye is on the mend.
I was and am so proud of our hospital and our kind and knowledgeable staff and doctors, and so grateful that we have Estes Park Health here in our own community, didn’t have to go to Loveland or Longmont for care. You gave us great peace of mind, and saved the visit and my son’s health. So, a huge thank you to everyone at EPH who helped us that night!
