An auditor’s report presented to the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District board on May 20 gave high marks to the organization for top-rate financial record-keeping.

Kyle Logan, an auditor with Logan and Associates, said that taking only about six weeks to prepare the district’s audit was “good news.”

“That tells you the numbers you have seen throughout the year are the numbers that we audit. If there were disagreements with management or difficulties during the audit, you would have heard from me before today, including measures for improvement or best practices,” he told the board.

Audit reports over the past two years have indicated excessive inventory on hand. “I’m happy to say we took that comment out because staff have been taking steps to reduce the year-end inventory at the different facilities, so that also tells you that accounting practices, policies, and procedures that the district has put in place over the years is being followed by staff,” Logan said.

He added that those policies and procedures provide for good, sound, financial reporting for the district, and were responsible for completing the audit, which he said was “barely over a year.”

Logan’s presentation came shortly after two newly elected board members took the oath of office to serve as members of the EVPRD board for the next four years.

Derek Vinge and Aaron Dorman join Heather Bradley, who was named to repeat in her position as board president. Mark Moraczewski will serve as vice president. Dorman was named treasurer. Michael Fallon will again serve as secretary, and Vinge will be a member-at-large.

Vinge received the most votes with 314 ballots cast in his favor. Dorman came in second with 288 votes. Incumbent Dan Derman received 263 votes. Former board member Scott Dorman was term-limited and could not appear on the ballot.
