Supporting Scott Dorman for Fire Board

I am writing to express my strong support for Scott Dorman as a candidate for the Estes Valley Fire Protection District Board of Directors.

Scott is a longtime resident of our community and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public safety and service over many years.

His experience as a former business owner, dedicated volunteer, and former fire chief gives him a unique and valuable perspective that blends leadership, practical understanding, and heartfelt dedication to the well-being of our residents.

Scott played an instrumental role in the formation of the fire district and remains deeply committed to its mission.

He understands not only the operational aspects of fire and emergency services but also the importance of effective governance. His clear understanding of the boundaries between board responsibilities and district management ensures that he will serve as a thoughtful and balanced director, focused on oversight, strategy, and community accountability.

Scott’s passion for fire service and public safety is matched by his integrity and collaborative spirit. He listens to the needs of others, brings institutional knowledge, and continually advocates for excellence in service and safety.

I am confident that Scott Dorman will serve the EVFPD Board with distinction, and I encourage others to support his candidacy.

Voting for the Estes Valley Fire and Recreation Districts takes place on Tuesday, May 6, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Community Center on the lower floor.

The absence of the word patient in Drew Webb’s missive

In Drew Webb’s missive “Transparency means ‘never having to say you’re sorry,’” I noticed the absence of the word patient.

I have never been a big fan of the Mission Statement because in my years of working in hospitals, I never had a patient ask me what it was.

However, I do understand that one needs a goal to help focus the organization’s work, but to treat “healthcare” as an industry is to impersonalize the very core of what should happen at Estes Park Medical Center.

Mr. Webb shows that he is well-versed in the financial side of “healthcare,” and this is certainly critical to the delivery of it.

On the other hand, needs are experienced by “people” who are best served by caregivers who are supported by the entire staff, from the CEO to the cooks and maintenance staff.

The Park Hospital District Board has been seriously lacking in representation from the caregivers’ perspective, Bridgette Foust and Cory Workman excepted.

It’s time to correct this and have the patients’ needs considered again.

My vote will go to the individuals who have worked in the hospital, including Tom Leigh.

Supporting Tom Leigh for hospital board

For several years, we have known Tom Leigh and his family as friends and neighbors in Estes Park.

We have observed firsthand Tom’s professional and caring attitude toward the hospital, its staff, and his community.

Tom has just the right combination of professional medical practice and hospital management experience, including nine years as an emergency room doctor at Estes Park Health and many other years of practicing in Alaska and other regions.  He has served as Chief of Staff as well.

Tom has expressed concern over the loss of many of his colleagues at EPH and would like to strengthen the morale of the staff.

He values a commonsense and compassionate approach, open communication, and transparency on the Board. He wishes to continue with rewarding work for the benefit of EPH, the Estes Park residents, and visitors

Vote to elect Dr. Tom Leigh as a Director on the Park Hospital District Board.

Voting for Tom Leigh for the hospital board

We are writing this letter in support of Dr. Tom Leigh in the upcoming Park Hospital District Board election.

Tom retired as an Emergency Room Physician in September 2024.

Now, he would like to continue to serve the community and the EPH Staff as a hospital board member.

His experience working in numerous hospitals in Colorado, Michigan, and Alaska makes him a great asset to EPH. This will be especially true if the affiliation is achieved this year.

Tom will serve with great intellect, experience, and compassion.

He is intimately familiar with the existing personnel and management issues because of his nine years’ service on the medical staff.

No other candidate has this current level of experience.

Time is growing short, and we urge you to fill out your ballot and return it. The election date is May 6.

Ballots may be mailed or placed in the secure drop box in the lobby of EPH, located at 555 Prospect Avenue, until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6th.

Please encourage your friends and family to participate in this important democratic process. Please Vote.
