Despite the erroneous announcement on MSNBC last week, RMNP is not set to close for the 2025 season, according to a statement provided to the Estes Valley Voice last week by the National Park Service.

While staffing may have an impact on some services in the Park, the nation’s fifth most visited national park will be open for visitors.

With just 77 days until Memorial Day, the official start of the summer visitor’s season, the announcement could have had a devastating effect on park visitation and local businesses if officials did not refute the misinformation.

Rocky, which was established on January 26, 1915 when President Woodrow Wilson signed the Rocky Mountain National Park Act, is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year. Last year, the Park saw 4.2 million recreational visits.
