CDOT work crews pull out for winter
Weather got the best of the crews working for the Colorado Department of Transportation trying to finish summer resurfacing projects on the U.S. 34 Big Thompson Avenue and U.S. 36 Moraine Avenue corridors. The projects have been shut down for the winter.
Trucks and big equipment were packed up and moved out yesterday, but CDOT says motorists can expect to see them return in the spring when work will resume. Target completion date currently is set for late May.
EPH to talk Gala
Estes Park Health has called a special board meeting set for Dec. 3 to hear about plans for the Estes Park Health Foundation’s 2025 Gala celebration of the medical center’s 50th anniversary and a fundraising project for the diagnostic imaging department that’s in the works.
The virtual and in-person meeting will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the town board room at Town Hall.
Get ready to submit Artist-in-Residence application
What could be a better location to fuel creative innovation than spending two weeks in Rocky Mountain National Park painting, composing, writing, creating textiles, photographing nature’s wonders, and more? If you’re not the visionary, this is the perfect time to tell the person you know who is.
Applications for Rocky Mountain National Park’s 2025 Artist-in-Residence program will be accepted beginning on December 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025. At least five selected artists will live in a rustic cabin inside RMNP to gain inspiration and create artistic works, and host and facilitate at least two free public programs for audiences of all ages. Tregent Park restrooms reopened in time for Friday’s Catch the Glow Parade
After seven weeks of renovation work, the Tregent Park restrooms on West Elkhorn Avenue have reopened to the public. The project was completed within budget and ahead of the Town’s goal to restore public use of the facility before the Nov. 29 Catch the Glow Parade.
This project improves compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act standards and includes installation of all-new plumbing fixtures and bathroom stall partitions, while improving the overall aesthetics with modern floor and wall tiles, bathroom accessory fixtures, water fountain, lighting, skylights and roof.
Deadline extended to comment on transportation and transit plans

The Town of Estes Park has extended the deadline for public comment on draft versions of its 2025 Multimodal Transportation Plan and Transit Development Plan until Jan. 3.
The planning process has focused on developing a transportation network in Estes Park that will integrate many types of transportation including micro-mobility devices, bicycles, pedestrians, cars, transit, and persons with disabilities, with a special focus on emerging mobility trends, technologies, and innovation in transportation planning.
The plan includes recommendations for routing, service frequency, and system enhancements to the Town’s transit service, The Peak.
