When it comes to a sick computer, Kimberly “Dr.” Ingram, knows how to make a diagnosis and prescribe the right remedy.

After doing IT work in several industries Ingram has launched Rocket IT Solutions, a business aimed at small and medium-sized companies that do not need an in-house IT department, but do need tailored IT consulting, 24/7 network monitoring, and remote support.

“We offer network security audits, computer optimization, and scalable IT packages to keep computer systems secure and running smoothly,” said Ingram. “We will also do vendor management, so if a client is having an application issue or needs someone to work with a third-party company to fix an issue, we can take care of that.”

Before deciding to go into business for herself, Ingram worked in IT departments in healthcare, finance, education, and retail businesses and even in a call center for a while. She credits the diverse background to helping her understand her clients’ needs across many industries.

While Ingram will make house calls to client’s offices to assess their needs, today’s technologies allow her to do most of the work remotely, which means she can service businesses in the Estes Valley, around the state, or even across the country.

“That can be really important when a client is facing a critical network outage that causes downtime. We can jump in quickly, identify and address the issue promptly to minimize disruption,” said Ingrahm.

Ingrahm explained that Rocket IT Solutions is geared for the business client with one or more computers not the residential client who may be struggling with their personal computer. Her services are packaged in three tiers—silver, bronze, and gold—depending on the size of the client’s business.

Her website is interactive, from the moment you open it a chat box pops up to ask what you are looking for and an interactive Q&A gives customers an idea of what an IT package will cost.

As a computer guru, Ingram has embraced AI by experimenting with a program to do social media posting. “You have to train it on your brand, but it will actually post on LinkedIn, Facebook, and one other social media site. You just have to approve what it has generating, then it strategically schedules the posts.”

Today’s digital landscape poses unique and dynamic challenges with cybersecurity being paramount, says Ingram. “We employ the latest security measures and compliance protocols to protect sensitive data and maintain our clients’ reputations. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do. We prioritize building strong relationships and we work to maintain open communication to ensure that we are always aligned with our clients’ business objectives.”

Ingram is charting a course as an entrepreneur in a field where women are significantly underrepresented. In 2022, women made up 47% of adults employed in the US, but only held 28% of computing and mathematical roles. Surprisingly, the number of women in tech roles has declined slightly over the past three decades.

Originally from Rome, Georgia, Ingram and her husband, Thom, who is from Massachusetts, came to Colorado to visit and like many people who are wowed by the state’s beauty they decided to make a major move, “We just up and moved out here for better opportunities and to get away from the humidity and mosquitoes in Georgia,” said Ingram with a lilt of southern in her voice.

For the Ingrams, computers are a family affair. Her husband works for the Town of Estes Park’s Power and Communications department as an implementation engineer to install broadband in the Estes Valley, and their son Draven, a sophomore at Estes Park High School, is thinking about a career in computer animation.

The family has lived near downtown Estes for nearly three years, but they have just relocated to a larger home in Allenspark.
